Tip of the Week: Ankle Stretching September 15, 2008 Want to improve your swimming while relaxing in your living room this winter? A great activity to do is ankle stretching. You just sit down on your feet with your knees bent in front of you. Then you pull your knees as high as you can. Hold for a couple of seconds, and then repeat. You will not likely notice an immediate difference. However, if you keep it up over a period of months your flexion will improve. And, it doesn't take much. Even a centimeter of improvement makes a big difference in the pool. More flexible ankles mean that your feet act more like flippers while kicking, making your swim much faster and more efficient.
