Swimming WorkoutDate: June 22, 2009 Distance: 2,400 LCM (Long Course Meters) Main Set: 5 x 400 meter free on 6:00 - A1 (at aerobic threshold)
Notes: Well, this workout was typical for a Monday morning. I found myself a victim, YET AGAIN, of another pool crusader. I don't know where these dingle-berry's come from, but I always seem to find them. Pool crusaders are people who like to yell and scream at you just because you swim fast and they don't. They usually make complaints such as: you splash too much, pass too close, or swim circles when you should swim sides. I was swimming circles (down one side, back the other), doing my workout, and this individual jumped into the pool in the middle of a 400, and somehow thought I had extra-sensory powers that they wanted to swim sides (one swimmer always swims one side, the other swimmer takes the other side). So I'm swimming along, following the rules, and all of the sudden this person was right in front of me. I just missed a head-on collision. And the next thing I know I'm getting yelled at by the lifeguard that it is all MY FAULT!!! I had no chance of even seeing the other person coming at me. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Every time I keep getting frustrated, I keep reminding myself that my reason for coaching is to educate people about this sport. So I do my best not to stay mad. Any frustration on my part isn't going to make a pool crusader any less of a dingle-berry anyways. |
