Swimming Workout

Distance: 1,200 SCY (Short Course Yards)

Main Set: 20 x 25yards freestyle A4 (all-out sprint) on 1:00

Average Time: 12.1 Seconds

Notes: It is fun to do 25s. They hurt a fair bit but they're so short that you can go fast regardless of the fatigue. I don't get to do them a lot these days (they are not needed in the workouts I do with Thompson). So, they are a throwback to the good-old days. When I was a competitive swimmer, developing swimming strength was huge, so I did 25s almost weekly. Now that I'm training triathletes who need speed but not the bulk and power, I do a lot of 50s but not as many 25s. But I sure miss the 25s. A 50 is just a little too long and hurts a little too much by comparison!
