Swimming Workout
Date: March 25, 2009
Distance: 1,200
Main Set: 8 x 50yd freestyle A4 (all-out effort) on 2:00
Average Time: 24.7 seconds
Notes: This was the 1st workout at the Y since the break-in of my car last Wednesday. It was tough coming back here but I'm happy I did. I didn't expect the times to be so fast. Again, the stationary swimming I did earlier this week must have done the job to keep me in swimming form. It is a rarity these days if I break 25 at all, and I hit 23 on the 1st one and sub 25 for the first 4. And I haven't had a pool workout in 7 days.
It has been a pretty tough go lately. The car break-in is really the latest in a series of setbacks this winter. It is making me want to run and hide from swimming forever. I'm hanging on with all I got. What keeps me coming back is knowing that I get to play a small part helping people overcome something. Swimming might not be the most important thing in this world. But watching and helping people accomplish things they never thought they could do gives me inspiration to keep climbing the obstacles in front of me. And that is important. I'll keep doing my best and see what happens. For everyone who has worked with me, thanks for all your help.
