Tip of the Week February 10 , 2009 Improve your Pulling Power and Efficiency Want to improve your pulling power and efficiency that doesn’t involve long and arduous workouts? If so, you will want to be doing lots of shoulder flexibility exercises. Anything that stretches your upper body (lats, pecs, delts, etc) makes it easier to swim well. The inward-rotation of the shoulder that is so crucial to pulling well can be very difficult without good shoulder flexibility. As you become more flexible, you get the benefit of being able to hold position more consistently and being able to generate more power and muscle movement while swimming. Make sure you stretch those shoulders every day! Until next time, happy training. Click here to view previous tips.
