Tip of the Week: Checking out your opponents November 3, 2008 Ever been in the swim portion of a triathlon and wondered how far your opponents are behind you? One easy way to do this is to flip onto your back and swim backstroke for a few strokes. You can then stick your head in the air and get a long glimpse backwards and see everything behind you. Since you are still swimming, you lose very little speed and won’t lose your position in the field. When you have seen what you need to see, flip back on your stomach and resume freestyle swimming.
